Squad is a tactical first-person shooter video game “set in the current modern day environment” being developed by Canadian studio Offworld Industries. Gameplay is squad-based, pitting two opposing sides of many squads against each other. Each squad is made up of individual classes selected by the individual players, such as riflemen, medics, and anti-tank. These players are all led by a single squad leader who can communicate with other allied squads and construct firebases and defensive constructs like heavy weapons and sandbags to protect such assets. Squad borrows from its predecessor Project Reality, putting heavy emphasis on communication, coordination and teamwork with matches occurring in large-scale open maps spanning multiple kilometers with two teams fighting to complete various objectives such as capturing objectives, destroying weapon caches, and depleting enemy reinforcements.
